COF New Fiscal Year and News Update |
Our new COF fiscal year starts in June. This is the time we begin to
except donations for our operational expenses for the 2009/2010 fiscal
year. You can make a donation online by
clicking here or make a check out to and mail to
GHCOF, P.O. Box 3082, Sugar Land, Texas 77487. If you know of any
Corporations that would like to help us out, please send them our way.
Thank You in advance for your donation.
We had a great 2008/2009 fiscal year. The best I can remember in our
twelve year history. Here are some of the highlights of the year.
1. GHCOF grew to over 1,000 members.
2. You guys did a great job giving hundreds of pounds of meat to Hunters
Harvest.
3. Our Bay Fishing Tournament in June at Rockport, Texas was a great
success. All of the boats except for mine limited or came close to
limiting on Speckle Trout and Red Fish. Our speaker was Boyce Honea, my
life time Friend, Coach and Brother in Christ. Coach has known me since
seven years old and coached me in Football and Basketball through Jr. High
and High School and kept in touch with me through college and life. He is
a great fisherman and loves the Lord putting in countless hours for FCA.
4. In July we had 50 kids at our Hunter Safety Course. Jim and Kitty
Haines always do a great job. If my memory is correct this was their 7th
year doing Hunters Safety for COF.
5. Also in July we had 150 at our annual breakfast. This is the time we
all gather for fellowship and to sign up for all the fall events. Our
speaker Hank Hough and his Dogs had us in awe with their tricks, talents
and spiritual message.
6. We had the best Water Fowl season I can remember in five years. The
cold fronts and rain came at the right time. The migration of birds seem
to come at the right time. Third Coast Outfitters did a great job of
getting everyone to their hunts. We had two private ponds this year that
produced well in the late season. Several of our kids were first timers
and or now hooked on Water Fowl hunting.
7. We had ten Father/Child Doe Hunts October-February with a 98% success
ratio on five ranches. Our campfire devotions were Fantastic. Thanks to
Speakers Danny Biddy, Dale Hill, Kenny Brannon, Mark Sullivan, Gary Sills,
Robert Welch and Scott Young for some challenging spiritual applications.
We also had some very humerous things happen this year at our hunts. Too
numberous to mention Scott.
8. We had our second annual Kansas Pheasant/Quail Hunt. Our speaker
Richard King brought us some fantastic devotionals. We did not get as many
birds as expected, but the comradely and fellowship was great on a long
trip.
9. Our Spring Turkey Hunt in April was a success with a 95% success ratio.
Speaker Vaughn Bryant did a great job on our campfire devotions speaking
on the subject of "Relenting". I am still working on Relenting and trying
to except the term.
10. At our Spring Bass Fishing Tournament we caught 197 Bass with the
largest being 23 inches. The average catch was 17 inches. Most impressive
was Drew Boehm, one of child participants who caught 29 Bass for a total
weight of 53 pounds. Our speaker Dan Tarno brought two great Devotionals
from the book of First John.
I can't thank all of you enough for your prayers and support. COF would
not exist without you. Thanks to our COF Board Members Ron Ewer, Mike
Harris and Mike Marbach for their support and insite. Thanks to Carl
Dase,Bob Rundle and Barry Turcotte for taking care of the finacial duties
for COF. Thanks to Charlotte Day our volunteer Secretary for getting out
all the mailings. Thanks to all our Guides, Speakers and Event Helpers for
making our fiscal year a success. Mostly thanks to all of you for your
financial contributions that keep us operating. We have some exciting
events and hunts planned for the 2009/2010 fiscal year. I am excited that
"The Duck Commander" will be our speaker at our annual breakfast on August
22nd, 2009. Also we have a Wild Game Banquet and Expo planned for March
6th, 2010. I look forward to spending time with you in God's Great
Outdoors.With Love and Appreciation
